UNTAN Faculty of Engineering Conducts Public Transportation Field Study in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Urban and Regional Planning Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Tanjungpura University has carried out a Field Lecture Trip (PKL) to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the first week of February 2023. The Field Study trip with the theme “Public Transportation Field Study Case Study: Bangkok - Kuala Lumpur” on February 3 - 7, 2023.
Public transportation is an effort that is expected to be a solution in handling congestion in urban areas. So it is expected that of course the economy in the region can be better, transportation runs better, the community also gets better and more appropriate services. In Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur, public transportation is known as rail-based transportation such as MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), LRT (Light Rapid Transit), KL Monorail, Commuter Line, and bus-based transportation such as Rapid KL and Go KL.
On this field trip, the FT UNTAN lecturers visited KL Sentral Station, this station was opened in 2001 to replace Kuala Lumpur Railway Station which is the largest station in Southeast Asia. This station is prepared as a base for several modes of transportation with services to several points such as Aliran Kelana Jaya, KL Monorail, KTM Antarabandar, and others. Most train services in Kuala Lumpur pick up passengers at KL Sentral, as well as inter-city rail services that cross Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.
Then at the end of the field trip, a group photo session was held in front of Bukit Bintang Monorail Station. Bukit Bintang Monorail Station is a multi-storey monorail station in the Kuala Lumpur Monorail (KL Monorail) stream, located in the Greater Kuala Lumpur City Center. In addition, Bukit Bintang is a famous shopping district in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Not only offers shopping tours, this area also presents a variety of interesting tourist options. Bukit Bintang is packed with lodging buildings, restaurants, shops, and many more. No wonder, whether day or night Bukit Bintang is always crowded with tourists.
Thus, the Field Lecture Trip ended, hopefully the knowledge gained can be useful for the progress of the engineering faculty and the Tanjungpura University PWK study program.
