Community Service of Urban and Regional Planning Students in Punggur Kapuas Village
On Monday (25/7), the student group of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Tanjungpura University (PWK UNTAN) carried out Student Community Service (PMKM) activities in 2022. The student group in question consists of 2018 and 2019 batch students. In order to fulfill course assignments, this time PMKM activities were carried out in Punggur Kapuas Village, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency.
PMKM is a field study activity that is realized in the form of community service. The goal of this activity is to develop students and actualize them by socializing with the community directly in the field. In addition, the PMKM course is also a form of the 3rd Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Community Service.
Punggur Kapuas Village was chosen as the location of the 2022 PWK UNTAN PMKM because there were several potentials to be the location of PMKM activities, namely the distance that is quite far from Pontianak City but still possible to visit, there are educational facilities whose facilities are still lacking, and there is no information board regarding directions both street names and names of important places, as well as the willingness of the Punggur Kapuas Village represented by the village head and other officials to approve the implementation of activities. Based on these matters and considerations from the team of students and lecturers, Punggur Kapuas Village was decided to be the location of PMKM activities in 2022.
The main agenda chosen was the construction of trash bins and direction boards. Trash bins were made to be placed in local educational facilities and signboards for important places such as the location of the Punggur Kapuas Village Office. The trash bins were made using used paint buckets and decorated with paint and brushes by the students.
The marker boards were made of wood, boards, paint, and mall paper used to print information on the location and distance of the village office. The manufacture of these items went smoothly so that they could be handed over to the village and immediately installed in the locations that had been determined.
This PMKM PWK UNTAN Year 2022 activity is expected to benefit the local community, especially students and visitors who want to go to the village office. In addition, it is also expected that the next PMKM PWK activity can be better and have a better impact on the surrounding community.
